Chicago’s Greektown: A Historical Culinary Odyssey

WHAT: Enjoy a walking tour led by Dame Camille Stagg which will feature a special tour of the National Hellenic Museum and a lovely lunch at the Parthenon.

DETAILS:
Enjoy a walking tour led by Dame Camille Stagg. We will meet at the Parthenon for an introduction to Greektown and then begin the tour. Neighborhood visits include  the Athenian Candle Shop which makes the candles for all of the Greek Churches in Chicago, The Greek Bakery,  Elea Mediterranean Market and then head to the new National Hellenic Museum for a special tour. Afterwards we will enjoy a delicious lunch at the Parthenon with a talk by Chris Liakouras who founded the restaurant 43 years ago.  His daughter Yanna will introduce us to Greek wine during lunch. There will be an expedition to a local grocery after lunch for all who wish to go!

COST: Members $40; Non-members $45
