Our thanks to Dame Carol Mighton Haddix for compiling this.

During the annual dinner in May, we asked members to share some “Pearls of Wisdom” to honor our chapter’s 30th Anniversary, the “Pearl Anniversary.” Here is what they shared:

“Take risks, pray, find joy!”
“Listen to your inner voice. It will rarely lead you astray!”
“Life is a tapestry. Weave all the threads together and, if you are paying attention, the results will be a thing of beauty.”
“Always have co-conspirators for events: 1) JeanMarie who will get all the work done or 2) Rita who engineers all the fun!”
“Believe in women. We can do anything!”
“Always push yourself so that you are quaking in your boots and waking up at night with trepidation. For to live without living to your fullest is not living, just existing.”
“Read, listen, be a life learner. Love, and trust the universe will put you on the right path with the right people.”
“Carpe Diem!”
“Take chances. Don’t always go the safe route. Enjoy the journey.”
“Follow your passion, wherever it leads.”
“Say yes to the board’s request, no matter what!”
“Follow your dreams and lead others down that path to make the world a better place.”
“In business, always be true to yourself–as long as you are profoundly ethical.”
“Savor every experience.”
“Get to know the people who volunteer along with you, and learn from them.”
“Advice to all Dames: Come to every event you can. You won’t be disappointed, and you will meet life-long friends.”
“1. Don’t judge too quickly. 2. Be patient”
“You are always more successful than you think. Stay focused.”
” ‘He who is greatest among you, let him be servant of all.’ A leader serves her staff.”
” We often learn more from mistakes and small errors than from success. Learning is personal growth and the reward of adventure.”
“The women of Les Dames d’Escoffier are the sorority sisters I never had. Make the most of the talent and generosity and intelligence of these ladies. They are fabulous.”
“Say ‘yes’ to something new that you never thought you could do. You will surprise yourself.”
“Management is doing things right. Leadership is doing the right thing.”
“It takes less energy to be courageous than it does to be afraid.”
“Together we can use our entrepreneurial experience to make corporate philanthropy effective…and fun.”
“Here are three pearls of wisdom: As an only child I learned it’s okay to ask for help. For your career, take up any challenge that comes your way and you will find yourself in some interesting and exciting situations. For the chapter, remember the BC chapter motto–only do things that are fun.”
