About Us
Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) is a worldwide society of women dedicated to creating a culture in the community that fosters excellence and promotes the achievement of women in culinary professions through educational and charitable activities.
The Chicago Chapter is a non-profit organization which was founded and incorporated in 1983 for the “promotion of women in the culinary arts and the furtherance of the appreciation and knowledge of food and wine by sponsoring educational and charitable activities.”
As members of Les Dames d’Escoffier, an invitational pro-active organization, we are unified through our personal achievements. Using our strengths, we continue to develop our leadership skills in culinary professions that have seen a rise in the prominence of women in previously male-dominated positions. We also seek to support and mentor those women who become members and who will follow us in culinary leadership roles.
Women of Achievement
“Les Dames d’Escoffier is a leadership culinary organization composed of women who have not only achieved success in their profession, but who contribute significantly to their communities. Since its incorporation 25 years ago, Les Dames d’Escoffier has followed its mission to elevate the profession through mentoring members and helping worthy students succeed in their culinary careers. I am very proud to be a member.”- Julia Child (1912-2004)
