Dames Who Drink 16th Annual Les Dames Ravinia Picnic

Message from Dame Karen Levin:
WHAT: Please join us for a night under the stars with background music provided by the The Gipsy Kings. On Sunday, August 11th we will meet at Karen Levin’s home between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm rain or shine. Bring a dish to share (pot luck to serve 8 packed and ready to take to Ravinia please) and beverages for yourselves. Please bring glasses or plastic cups, paper plates, utensils and napkins for yourselves. Bring lawn chairs (blanket not needed).
I have purchased 10 lawn tickets for $27 each for the first 10 members and guests who RSVP to me. If more than 10 are coming I will be recommending purchasing the tickets online as the lawn may sell out that night.
WHERE: DIRECTIONS TO KAREN LEVIN’S HOME
Take the Kennedy (94)* North to the Edens expressway (to Milwaukee) to Clavey Road (1 exit past Lake Cook Road). Head east (right) on Clavey. The first stop light will be Green Bay Rd. Cross over Green Bay and turn right onto Melody Lane which is the second street on your right (just past Flora).
Proceed down the block to 590 Melody (black lamp post). You will need to park your car on the opposite side of the street across from the house. Parking will be crowded, so you may have to park further down on Melody. Please take a parking pass from the mailbox and place it in the car window on the driver’s side dash board.
*From Evanston take Sheridan Road: head north to Tower Rd. in Winnetka. Turn left (west) onto Tower to Green Bay Rd. Turn right (north) on Green Bay and proceed several miles to Lake Cook Rd. Cross Lake Cook and proceed to Melody Lane which is the third street on your right (you will pass the Ravinia main entrance).
*From Interstate 65 to the Indiana Toll Road to the Chicago Skyway. Continue on 94 (Dan Ryan Express Lanes) through downtown Chicago to the Kennedy Expressway North (94-Wisconsin) and follow the rest of the directions above.

Reception at Kendell College for Scholarship Recipients

Les Dames d’Escoffier Chicago Chapter held a champagne reception on May 14 to present the 2013 awardees in their annual scholarship program.
Seven female culinary students from five local schools were introduced to a group of 40 members and guests. Not only will each student receive financial aid from our Scholarship fund, but they will each be awarded a one-year mentorship by being paired with one of the local members to share activities, experience and expertise.
The recipients are: Rachel Dau (College of Dupage), Chantiyanna Thigpen (Washburne), Danielle Welch (Kendall), Stephanie Kochanczyk (Triton), Vivian Proano (Kendall), Crystal Chui (French Pastry School), and Anshaunti Hillery (Washburne).
Thanks to Kendall College and Boisset France for making the evening a great success.

Tickets – Culinary Garage Sale & Cake Walk

WHEN & WHERE: June 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kendall College.
This event will include live music, food trucks and a cake walk to compliment the treasures from top Chicago chefs!
The proceeds benefit the Les Dames d’Escoffier Scholarship Program & Green City Market.
The early bird gets Le Creuset! The ultimate VIP shop: for a donation of $75 you get to shop first, from 10-11 a.m. (Remember, this is a fundraiser). Early entry to the sale, food & drinks and a swag bag!
General admission tickets are $5 and can purchased on Brown Paper Tickets or are available at the door. General admission shopping is 11-2 p.m.

Clean out your junk for a good cause! Les Dames d’Escoffier is hosting its second Annual Culinary Garage Sale + Cake Walk at Kendall College on Saturday June 15, 2013, 10am-2pm to benefit Les Dames d’Escoffier scholarship program and Green City Market.
This is a win-win. Your storage closest will finally get cleaned and you will be helping raise money for two outstanding organizations – Les Dames d’Escoffier Chicago Scholarship program and Green City Market. We will make this process as EASY as we can for you! There are two choices for you to unload your goods – DROP OFF at Kendall College or use our PICK UP service.
