Dames Who Read: Stealing Buddha’s Dinner

From Dame Judith Dunbar Hines:

The next Dames Who Read book will be Stealing Buddha’s Dinner by Minh Nguyen.

With immigration issues in the news daily, it is fitting that Dames Who Read think about this subject through the eyes – and food memories – of a young woman whose Vietnamese birth, American school and Mexican-American home-life cause her to yearn to fit in, although she is not quite sure into which camp she really belongs.

Join us at Saigon Sisters, where Dame Mary Argoni shares her own stories of mixed messages and fused cuisines, which are much like those in the book, and then treats us to a wonderful Vietnamese dinner filled with her own memories and experiences.

Date:   Tuesday, July 11, 6 pm – 8 pm

Price:  $40 – buy tickets here

Location: Saigon Sisters, 567 W. Lake Street, Chicago

Street parking (some only available after 6 pm) or use the parking garage nearby
