It was a sold-out night of delicious food and wine as the Dames Somms partnered with Dame Mary Aregoni for the “Curry Up” wine dinner on June 4 at Bang Chop restaurant.
Dames enjoyed a welcome cocktail of Portell Cava Brut sparkling wine with Melissa Yen’s delicious Jo Snow Vanilla Syrup. Three courses plus dessert followed, with unexpected wine pairings.
While the traditional wine paired with spicy Asian fare is often Riesling or Gewurtztraminer, the Dames Somms like to dig deep, pairing Curry Puffs with Beef and Peas with Allegrini Valpolicella, for instance, or Thai Green Curry with Jackfruit and Ground Pork with Elk Cove Rosé of Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley.
