SUMMARY:Pilsen Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Chicago has always been known as a welcoming location for immigrants\, and no neighborhood proves this more than the area around 18th Street\, now known as Pilsen. \nOn our walking and eating tour of this picturesque neighborhood\, you will see architecture and art (including LOTS of murals!) indicative of all of those who have passed through.  We will also sample foods from family-owned businesses making the area “one of the best neighborhoods in the country” as it has been named in recent press. \nWe will walk and talk about the neighborhood’s history\, art\, culture and\, of course\, its foods. Along the way\, we will be eating\, then we will have a sit-down tasting\, family style. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or intolerances so we can do our best to anticipate and avoid those.  All responsibility for tasting is yours. \nLed by Dame Judith Hines\, you will hear stories\, see murals\, and taste delicious Mexican specialties.  Meet at \nNUEVO LEON PANADERIA  \n1634 W 18th Street \nWe will have an extensive walk\, rain or shine\, so come prepared. (You may also want to visit the National Mexican Museum of Art\, which will be nearby but not included on the tour –  their hours are 10 am – 5 pm.) \nTransportation:   CTA Pink Line   18th street stop is 1 ½ blocks from starting point. DESCRIPTION:Dame Heidi Moorman Coudal invites Les Dames d’Escoffier Chicago for a fun gathering in her West Town Urban Farm. Big Delicious Planet has been recognized as the Greenest caterer in America for 13 years\, and has been growing food next to their catering kitchen and event space since 2012. The beautiful BDP Urban Farm is located on three city lots\, and features 81 raised beds and five beehives. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Napa Valley for a couple hours. \nBDP will offer a seasonal cocktail/mocktail\, wine\, and a grazing station showcasing the autumn harvest. Weather permitting\, the event will be held indoors and outdoors from 5:30–8:00 PM. 412 N. Wolcott Avenue. There’s usually plenty of free street parking available.
