The Scholarship Committee and LDE Chicago members came together to recognize and celebrate this year’s scholarship recipients at the French Pastry School.
A common theme among the six recipients was knowing they wanted to be in the kitchen as children, and viewing food as a sense of community and way to connect with others. Many of the recipients said they learned to cook from their mothers or other family members. Sustainability and concerns for the environment were also top of mind when thinking about the food industry.
The 2016 LDE Chicago scholarship recipients are:
