Green Tables Recipient Farm on Ogden Chosen as Competition Finalist

Windy City Harvest’s proposed Farm on Ogden Development, which is one of LDE Chicago’s Green Tables recipients, was selected as one of five finalists out of a pool of 24 applicants in a chance to win $500,000 from the Food to Market Challenge competition funded by the Searle Funds at The Chicago Community Trust.

Funds from this competition, conducted collaboratively by the Trust and the Kinship Foundation, will help the winning team develop their solution to improve the supply of local and sustainable food in the Chicago region.

A video developed for the competition details the Farm on Ogden’s proposed solution: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLMScK99qME. It explains the significant increased impact we can have on food, health, and jobs in Chicago if it receives these funds.

The winner of the Food to Market Challenge will be selected at a “Shark Tank” style pitch event held at the Museum of Contemporary Art this Wednesday, October 26. Angie Mason, associate VP of Windy City Harvest, will present the project. For more information, see www.foodtomarketchallenge.org.
