On July 7th, Kord worked with the garden club  harvesting lots of carrots, lettuce and beets and a few peas. They also planted  seeds for the next crop of vegetables. Another group of McCormick Club members washed the vegetables and peeled and ate lots of carrots. Each child proudly brought home some lettuce and carrots that they harvested.

The next morning Mary Abbott Hess brought in the beets, roasted with orange zest. All of the Club members tasted the beets ( on sticks as lollypops) and most loved them. It was the first time any of them had tasted beets. They also tasted the freshly cooked peas that they had removed from pods. As you see from the photos, it was a great experience. We need Dames to help on gardening days. Please choose a day to volunteer and be part of our Chapter’s Green Tables project.
